Bas Jansen is a physiotherapist specializing in postural care, particularly in 24-hour body positioning and custom wheelchair seating solutions. Like many in the field, he works with individuals who have complex mobility impairments, offering strategies to prevent body shape distortions, improve function, and enhance comfort.
Bas is widely recognized for his 25+ years of expertise in the assessment, design, and provision of complex custom seating, including custom-contoured wheelchair seating systems. He has worked extensively in metropolitan Perth, rural and remote areas of Western Australia, and through tele-health consultations interstate and internationally . Collaborating with institutions such as Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, and the Telethon Kids Institute, Jansen supervises research and contributes to innovation in postural care.
He is also an international speaker, presenting at conferences and collaborates with organizations like RESNA, ARATA, and the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP). His contributions have shaped best practices in postural management across the globe.
